  Choosing a Scooter

Making the choice easier

Choosing a Scooter can be difficult and frustrating with so many in the market place. Here at Valley Moto we try to make your choice as easy and hassle free as possible. First you must understand the law, as long as you have a current Queensland Drivers Licence you are able to ride a Scooter no bigger than a 50cc. If you have a curent Open Motorcycle Licence you are able to ride any size Scooter. There is one more type of Licence you can aquire, this is a restricted Motorcycle Licence (Code RE A ) which means you are only able to ride an automatic Scooter up to 250cc.

How do I pay for my Scooter ?

At Valley Moto we understand that not everybody can afford to pay for a Scooter upfront, so once you have chosen the most suitable Scooter for you there are a number of payment options. We offer a NO INTEREST EVER Finance supported by Certegy Ezi-Pay. This simple payment plan can be arranged with plans from 6 months, 12 months and 18 months. These types of plans can make Scootering more attainable for most people as the upfront costs can be greatly reduced and spread out over the term of the plan.

Is a Scooter for me ?

Scooters are easy to ride and you're never too old. There are Scooters available to suit almost everybody, they are the same as a pushbike (the brakes are in the same place but there is no pedal power!) Scooters are all automatic so just twist and go.

Here are a few reasons why you should own a Scooter..

  • Scooters are the cheapest and most practical form of transport available to purchase.

  • Scooters cut down the CO2 emission and petrol consumption. SAVE THE PLANET
  • They are extremely easy to operate. If you can ride a bicycle, you will be able to learn the controls of a Scoot in a short amount of time and master them in an hour or so.

How much will my Scooter cost to run ?

The fact of the matter is that once you purchase a Scooter you will realise how economical they are to run, and just how much you really will save. Petrol for your Scooter will cost around $6 and you should get around 100+km to the tank taking into consideration the environment i.e hills, wind and body type will also depend on the fuel consuption of your Scooter as to how many kilometres you get to your tank.

The Difference betwen the 'Ride Away' Price and the Base Price ?

The ride away price for your Scooter includes all the on road costs such as stamp duty, CTP ( Compulsory Third Party ) insurance, registration fee, number plate fee, frieght costs and pre-delivery of  the Scooter.

Can I test Ride a Scooter ?

At Valley Moto we have an impressive range of Scooters. All of our models are on display for you to see in our inviting showroom. We offer test rides on most models of Scooters to make sure you choose the best suited Scooter for you.

What type of security comes with a Scooter ?

There are a few options once you've purchased a Scooter, some brands of Scooters come optional with alarm/immobilisers to give you peace of mind. You could also purchase a disc lock which you can attach on either the front or rear brakes of your Scooter, this will also keep your Scooter secure whereever you park. Alternatively a chain and lock could be used, you would secure this to an object which can't be moved to prevent your Scooter from being lifted and furthermore you could put it around your wheel as well to prevent the Scooter from being ridden.

What is better New or Second Hand ?

Purchasing a used Scooter will be cheaper then a new scoot, but you must take into consideration the troubles you may run into. A New Scooter has all new parts, new tyres, new battery and most Scooters come with a minimum warranty of 12 Months. Compare this to what you receive when buying second hand, you may end up spending money to fix it after only a few rides it could start with a battery, then maybe tyres, and no warranty which means you pay for parts and labour on anything mechanical. So for a small amount upfront you get alot more in the long run.
